Okay - so the Vonage phone works MUCH better now that I've changed the bandwidth setting for the lowest setting available - 30kbps. The default bandwidth used by the phone modem is 50kbps - which was apparently too too much for the available bandwidth here. =)
The trick is to make calls when I don't have any devices connected to the internet. Also - calls to other VOIP phones are no good. The quality is almost like being in the states IF the call is made to a mobile phone or a land line. And if there is an occasional echo or breakup, usually if we switch the callers, then the quality improves greatly (IE - I call the person back or they call me back).
