I am happy to report that the bug epidemic has died down. The weather has cooled quite a bit, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
In fact - I've been sleeping with the windows open these last 2 weeks. It's been cool enough to sleep with just the fan and no air conditioning. It really is nice!
