Avian Flu

In the papers today the following was announced:

The Bangladesh Government has confirmed that there has been an outbreak of avian influenza in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka. The government announced that they will cull poultry in that area. There are no reported cases of human illness.

A bit scary - but I had a feeling that we've had bird flu in Bangladesh for a while now. My flatmate mentioned that in a WHO report last year - Bangladesh was listed as 100% possibly having avian flu in their poultry population. 100% possibly = yeah, we probably have it. Now it's confirmed.

I try to avoid live poultry when possible - but they're all around...I just don't touch them.

In the meantime - no soft cooked eggs for me!
