After a superior stomach filling lunch of Lebanese food at Sunnin, we attempted to walk off some calories at the recently opened Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook.
Visitors can take either the 1 mile long switchback or the 715 foot climb of stone steps to reach the overlook. Many of the locals use the climb as a form of exercise and take 3-4 trips up & down the hill.
We opted to take the stairs up since it seemed the most direct way. The view from above is a nice panoramic view of the city of Los Angeles (too bad it was still slightly overcast & a littly hazy).
The best part of the overlook in my opinion is the visitors' center. It was closed that day, but we walked about outside and relaxed on the stone steps/benches nearby.
It's easy to forget how much we need the respite from the city and urban life. It was so refreshing & relaxing to lay in the sun and feel the breeze...and just be at peace.
